Students @ the other side….I always envy not being so much politically aware as the students in the government college .I see them actively involved in the protest against petroleum hikes, for the consumer rights, in the active politics of the country. I too have gathered some knowledge regarding the current situation with the curriculum in my college. This is for to let us think the change agents of the society can also be turned out to be like this. Holi has rather taken the form of rather ill practice overlapping its pure and colorful belief. The same students who are seen protesting in the streets are seen these days in the terrace of renowned college “TC” to throw the water bombs to the girls and ladies passing from Jamal stop. I was walking through the sky bridge to get my tempo to my college and heard someone passing me the comment that ” Lau abo majja le lola khane bhayo ani ramrari bhijincha pani “which meant “huh she is gonna get good hit of water bombs and will get fully wet”. How ridiculous is that!!! Those guys assumed the condition of girls and ladies passing through that lane of about 25 metres. The distance had piles of plastics scattered and water all over.I could hear two ladies cursing them for one of them had faced the water bomb and them hurrying towards their office.I wonder these students have once strike for the environment protection and had protested in front of the office of safe drinking water. These students need to be the ones protesting the ill phenomenon of Holi rather they are standing as 5 feet tall wall over the terrace. It’s an agony. In Aajtak today I heard of the news in which one brother and sister got beaten severely in the Delhi bus stop when the brother rebelled against the rowdy boys throwing colors and water to his sister. If these sorts of activities are continued then the day’s not far Katmandu valley and the other cities of the country start facing similar incident as that of Delhi incident.
Donno what to say :(

Great writeups! I know, Holi has become ‘gendered’ in a very very negative way. Its sad, because while guys love holi, girls are scared of it. I wish, there could be a way to control the hooliganism.
Nyway stay out of trouble

I think the title should be changed like ” Say something ” than “Donno what to say” ….If the victim don’t say anything then who will say from his/her side ?????
Victims’ saying something ability can slowly and slowly vanish such disgusting behaviour…so start to say something…..
Thank you Ametya for comment,
I agree we have to say something , and we usually say it also but instead yu receive bombardments of waterballs intentionally hit at different delicate spots of your body….
Believe me, once when i oppossed such behavior i was intentionally hit with the waterballs at my eyes , and then I found my spectacles broken down into pieces.
This is not just a local level problem and we can find numbers of articles in the papers offensing these activities but still there is no response.
I think, these activities should be listed as crime and this issue should be taken as a national issue with proper response from the government.
